How is Freckly Ollie sustainable ?

All of our products are made with either Linen, or Surplus Fabrics. How are these sustainable? Linen is a highly sustainable material that doesn't need pesticides or fertilisers to grow and require very little water. Other natural materials such and cotton require large quantities of water and pesticides to grow; wool, requires keeping sheep that impact our land and resources. Hence all other forms natural fibres fabrics we use are from stock surplus fabrics.

What is Surplus Fabric?

Fabrics are usually made for big manufactures of fashion labels. Once they have cut and used up what they need for the season the left over fabric is often forgotten. This is what we call surplus stock fabric. We work with local and international suppliers who go hunting for these quality stock fabrics for us rather than using resources to make more fabric. Don't get us wrong, this is usually high quality designer fabric that we wouldn't otherwise have access to unless we custom order thousands of meters.

Who makes your clothes?

Currently all our clothes are designed, cut and handcrafted by owner/designer Diana, in her little studio in regional Victoria.

Why are your sizes in bigger jumps than other labels?

All our items are designed with growing bodies in mind, hence all our blocks allow your little ones to wear these quality pieces for longer. We make our clothes with larger size jumps so you don't have to be replacing the items as often.

Why don't you have new born sizes?

New borns are delicate and spend most of their time wrapped up, sleeping, feeding and growing. As our items are mainly made out of linen which has no stretch we don't want you to buy an expensive quality item that doesn't last more than a month. Hence our sizes start at 3-6 months, by then our items will last your bub at least 3-4 months and you'll be out and about with you new sidekick.

What size should I get?

All our sizes come with height recommendations, if your little one is taller than the height range of a size, then go up a size. As long as they are within the specified range there is no need to go up a size as all our designs are generous to accomodate for layering and growing bodies. Feel free to shoot us a email to info@frecklyollie.com.au if you need any measurements or recommendations.

What if I'm getting a gift and don't know the child's height?

Our sizes are pretty spot on based on the child's' age. However if you are still worried why not get them one of our E-Gift Vouchers? If you like the idea of an hard copy gift voucher card please email us at info@frecklyollie.com.au to arrange.

What if I ordered the wrong size?

Please be careful when ordering, our handcrafted items. We don't carry a lot of stock so by the time you receive your order and request an exchange we might not have the size you want. Please also be considerate and don't order two sizes to check, then send the other one back. We will do our best to offer exchanges whenever possible however we will NOT be offering refunds for extra sizes ordered.

How do I wash Linen?

Most clothing labels will specify to gentle hand wash linen, do not spin and so on. However we know that linen is a very hardy fabric and is made to be worn and washed. So feel free to machine wash in a wash bag on a gentle cold cycle, we know that hand washing is just not ideal when you have a little one! Please wash dark and light colours separately though and be aware that linen does shrink slightly during the first wash.
